About the Committee
Hindusthan College of Arts and Science has established a Women Welfare and Empowerment Committee to empower the women and eliminate discrimination in all forms. The committee aims at empowering women and providing a safe and secure environment for the girls and women faculty members.
Objectives
♦️ To establish a safe and secure campus for women by preventing gender discrimination and sexual harassment.
♦️ To take proactive steps of educating about sexual harassment among students that gives them confidence and fosters a respectful learning and working environment.
♦️ To eliminate discrimination and all forms of violence against women.
♦️ To create a conducive counseling environment and encourage girl students to discuss their problems with teachers without any hesitation.
♦️ To promote a culture of respect and equality for female gender.
♦️ To assure quick redress of formal and informal complaints lodged by female employees/ students, and reassure with necessary guidance and support.
♦️ To motivate and inspire girl students in their pursuit of excellence.
♦️ To promote awareness among girl students on occupational, legal and constitutional rights.
♦️ To educate women on basic health and hygiene through experts.
♦️ To promote gender sensitization and to advocate gender equality within the community.
♦️ To generate women’s sense of self-worth, strength and self-confidence.
♦️ To inculcate entrepreneurial attitude and educate about the importance of financial independence in women.
Functions
♦️ Aiming at intellectual and social up-liftment of the female students, the cell stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes, life skill training programmes, entrepreneur training and other welfare activities.
♦️ To organize various types of programs for women to be financially, mentally and emotionally empowered so as to promote their growth as individuals in their own right.
♦️ Debates, group discussions, slogan writing and poster making competitions are being organized.
♦️ Expert lectures are being organised on “Women Empowerment” on a regular basis.
♦️ Creates legal awareness among women by informing about Women Welfare Laws.
♦️ Extends effective counseling services for female students to share their problems for redressal of their grievances.
