Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore established in the year of 1998 with three courses and 300 students. Since 2016, it has been functioning as an autonomous college under Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. In July 2018, college declared as a “Star College Status”. Now, the College has autonomy in its academic administration and has been continuously upgrading the curricula and infrastructure in order to improve the quality of education. Through its distinctiveness as an academic institution over a long period of time, the authorities of the College believes in continuous improvement even though it has NAAC Accreditation Grade B since 2014. Now the college is ready for second round of NAAC. Therefore, the authorities in line with one of its mission “to raise the realm of good to great to greater, through continuous quality assessment” have voluntarily started
the academic audit since 2016 to look into its strengths and weakness and identify the scope of further improvements.
Aim
The purpose of an academic audit is to encourage departments or programs to evaluate their ‘education quality processes’- the key faculty activities required to produce, assure, and regularly improve the quality of teaching and learning.
Objectives
The Principal at a preliminary meeting with the academic audit members, outlines the broad objectives of academic audit as an independent assessment of the College by an external peer team comprising of Internal members also. Accordingly, the audit team decided to look into the prevailing situation at the College.
The objectives of the Academic Audit includes the following,
♦ To assess the academic performance of individual faculty in a department
♦ To assess the academic performance of the department as a whole
♦ To identify the strength and limitations of the department
♦ To make the individual faculty and the department accountable.
